Area Attractions

The Kent Island area has plenty of stuff for people to do during their spare time.  For one, it offers some beautiful waterfront scenery.

Of course, with the bay being so close, there is always the opportunity to do some fishing or crabbing.  Just head on over to the local bait shop.  I'm sure they'll give you some pointers and send you to a good spot.  If you haven't been crabbing before, give it a shot.  The only problem is, you probably won't have a place to cook them at your hotel.  If you catch enough though, I'm sure we could figure something out for you.

If you are the "healthy type" and would prefer getting some exercise, there is a trail system that starts on Kent Narrows and goes for about 6 miles across the Kent Narrows Bridge and all the way over the Terrapin Nature Park at the base of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.  It would be perfect for a leisurely jog or bike ride, as the land is perfectly flat and scenic.

The Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center also offers some a variety of "outdoors-y" activities.  They have Kayak rentals, Hiking, Geo-caching, and Birding.   It is free admission to just check out the park and the wildlife, but there are fees for any of the activities.

There is also a beach called Matapeake Public Beach which was just built recently.  It has a beautiful sandy shoreline and a club house that serves refreshments.  It would definitely be a good place to grab some rays on Saturday.

For the golfers, there are a few courses in the area:

There is also some great shopping available at the Prime Outlets, which are only about 15-20 minutes away.  Check out their site for a full list of stores, but they include Gap, J Crew, Banana Republic, and Coach.

And finally, there are plenty of places to just relax and have a meal or drinks.  Here's a few and I'll provide more info as we get closer:
I also found a good list of attractions online, that you might want to check out.  If you don't mind a little drive, you can also head out to Ocean City, Baltimore or Washington D.C.
